Where 2 or 3 gather

Why is writing & speaking important?

As you read the bible, your mind will flow in a new creativity. You will respond with comments, questions, declarations and remembrances. The Holy Spirit once encouraged me to begin writing my responses. These responses helped my understanding of the Word and through conversation with Jesus, I further developed it. Soon these responses fit into letters, the blog posts you see now.

This is my hope for you <3 to write your understandings on paper or on a computer. This will help develop a deeper understanding of Christ.

The Last Supper

“I have been very eager to eat this Passover meal with you before my suffering begins” – Luke 22: 15 (NLT).

The significance:

When Jesus says the above, the Holy Spirit was fervent in my voicing that He longs for you.

Significance of the Passover:

The Passover was a celebratory dinner of the Israelites being freed from the slavery and oppression of the Egyptians.

Significance of the Last Supper:

In this context, it is the celebration of the redemption of sin, death to life, oppression to freedom.

John 11: 32- 44 NKJV

Jesus cried for a friend He loved named Lazarus, he had died, although Jesus called it sleeping. “When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her weeping, He groaned in the Spirit and was troubled”. The AMP version reads, “He was deeply moved in Spirit (to the point of anger at the sorrow caused by death) and was troubled.”

“They said to Him, ‘Lord, come and see’. Jesus wept”.

I once heard a song that said, “He cries when you cry”. I believe this. Jesus has seen the loss you have carried. All the pain and anguish of being alone. Carrying expectations and situations that didn’t pertain to you. A hole that my words don’t do justice.

What if I told you He’s saved every tear you shed in a jar3 and knows the exact # of hairs on your head.4

Down to the deepest root you don’t know exists, He sees. Jesus cried knowing Lazarus wasn’t dead, Jesus cries knowing your pain is not the end, Jesus cries seeing you in eternity, from eternity. Yet He cries in pain with you.

“Jesus said, ‘Take away the stone.’ Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days. Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the Glory of God?”

“Father I thank You that You have heard Me. And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You send Me.”

“And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Loose him, and let him go.”

Maybe you’re wondering why thread?

These visuals capture the complexity of us in Christ. I love how Jesus put it, “the narrow way”.5

Mathew 6:25 promises that both your essential and nonessential aspects are taken care of. If you could image your figure in front of these intricate twists of threads those twists are all perfectly designed and taken care of in God. Every detail we know and do not know, rests in His palm.6

Continuing from Luke 22: 17, He said, “Take this and share it among yourselves.” For this purpose, does God encourage His children to speak of the Gospel that is Jesus.7 All of us are many members that make up one body having uniqueness and necessity of each other.

“If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.”8

“The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor”.9

“…that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together”.10

Jesus promises in Mathew 18:12 that when one sheep goes astray, He leaves the ninety-nine to get it.

He also does that with our complexity. We have so many moving puzzle pieces in us, that when one piece seems to go astray, when one battle, one thinking, one root goes, Jesus runs for it.

Why? He loves protecting you. He wants you to remain in the stability you found in Him. He is the prince of peace.11 So, when one piece of yourself seems to leave, He goes after it and puts it back in place.

My dad was the first to tell me this, when I told him things I was doing that left a giant weight on my back, he said when we confess and come before God being 2 people, God is there. This is that place, where God is.

Why we suffer

“He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us.”

— 2 Corinthians 1:4

For you

“When I was with the Jews, I lived like a Jew to bring the Jews to Christ…When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some.

— 1 Corinthians 9:19-23
